Successful conclusion of a long-running tax dispute

The law firm successfully represented an international carrier in a ten-year long dispute with the tax office over the VAT and penalties of approximately CZK 750,000.

Although the Regional Court dismissed the action in the first two proceedings, the Supreme Administrative Court repeatedly upheld our cassation appeals, thus not only overturning the judgments of the Regional Court but also the decisions of the Appellate Tax Directorate. As a result, the proceedings were dismissed and all payment orders were annulled. The client was thus exempted from unjustified tax and penalty assessments.

We are now assisting the client in recovering the tax and penalties paid and in claiming compensatory interest for the incorrectly assessed tax.

This success was the result of the meticulous work of our colleagues, especially Mgr. Karel Kotrba, who specializes in representing clients in disputes with tax authorities and regulatory bodies. Thanks to his extensive experience in financial administration and consulting companies, Karel is not only able to effectively defend the rights of clients, but also to estimate the possible outcomes of proceedings and suggest the most appropriate strategy.
